CANTERBURY SOFTBALL IN STATE FINAL
Varisty girls softball played in the state tournament for the second year just falling short to Eagle's View Academy for the title. 

CANTERBURY WINS FIVE DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIPS
Varsity Boys Baseball won their fourth consecutive District Championship giving Crusader Athletics a record of five District Championships this year: Girls Volleyball, Girls Basketball, Boys Basketball, Softball and Baseball.

OCEAN BOWL TEAM WINS NATIONAL AWARD
Canterbury won the James D. Watkins Sportsmanship Award for demonstrating the best sportsmanship throughout the National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB) final competition. Admiral James D. Watkins started the NOSB program in 1997 and was on hand to help present the award. This was Canterbury's first year at the national competition as one of twenty-five schools competing from across the country, and we were honored to win the sportsmanship award. ENVIROTHON TEAM TAKES FIRST PLACE
Canterbury won the regional title in the Nature Coast Envirothon against over 400 students from Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinellas, Sumter, Citrus and Hernando counties. They took first place in the subjects of Soils and Forestry. and will receive $5000 in scholarship money to split as a team.

AWARDED ANOTHER GRANT!
The Tampa Bay Water Source Water Protection grant will provide an additional funding to the Water Wise project
by middle school students. The objective of Water Wise II is to enhance understanding of the importance of local water quality and water conservation with sustainability in mind. Read more...

GRANT AWARDED FOR STUDENT PROJECTS
Canterbury received funding in the amount of $4,250 from the Southwest Florida Water Management District for our project "Water Wise II". As a part of the project, students will plant an maintain an organic garden utilizing rain barrels, take field trips to a local organic garden and the Tampa Bay Reservoir, install a solar still and create an aquaculture fish farm. They will also benefit from classroom activities with SWFMWD's Water Conservation Kit and the Watershed Resource box. FIFTH GRADE EARTH FORCE ART AWARD

Southwest Florida Water Management District Award
Canterbury will receive a "Partners in Watershed Education Award"from the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) for conservation projects completed by middle school students in 2007 and 2008.

Seniors awarded record scholarships
The twenty-four members of the Class of 2008 were awarded over $1.8 million dollars in academic or merit college scholarships. One senior was named a Park Scholar.

Class of 2011 conducts Food Drive
Canterbury students donated 2,000 pounds of food to the St. Petersburg Free Clinic Food Bank as the class community service project.

FCIS Grant Awarded
A Hooker Fellowship Grant has been awarded to Canterbury by the Florida Council of Independent Schools. These grants are given to develop projects that benefit the independent school community. Canterbury received the grant for our Canterbury Advisory Program, and Guidance Counselor Mike Davis will present a session on character education at the next FCIS conference.

Canterbury Middle School Grant
The Classes of 2014 and 2015 have been awarded a grant through Suncoast Earth Force. The purpose of the grant is for students to learn about the nearby preserve and then educate others. The grant will fund instructional materials and transportation to Weedon Island to complete water quality testing. Students will use this information to create podcasts to share with the global community.

Canterbury Wins Environmental Award
Canterbury has won the first "Golden Mangrove Award" from the Tampa Bay Estuary Program for work on the Bay Mini-Grant that we received for the native garden project on the Knowlton Campus. The project was completed in a year due to much hard work by middle and upper school students. Visit the garden or view the Habitat Restoration page to learn more.

Largest Single Gift in Canterbury History
Founding family, benefactors and current grandparents William and Hazel Hough have made a gift to Canterbury to support expansion of programs. Click this link to read the article in the St. Petersburg Times.

Learning Center
Additional resource for students and provides support strategies, tutoring in specific courses, study skills and assessments for students in prekindergarten through grade 12.
