crusader hall of fame

Established in 2005, the Hall of Fame honors Canterbury alumni and coaches who have demonstrated superior athletic accomplishments at Canterbury and beyond, as well as sportsmanship, character, and leadership. Inductees receive plaques sponsored by the Crusader Booster Club and their names are added to the Hall of Fame Recognition Boards in the Kenyon Field House.

Nominations are taken during the month of March and should be sent to the attention of the Athletic Director, Canterbury School of Florida, 990-62nd Avenue NE, St. Petersburg, FL 33702, fax (727) 525-2545.  The induction ceremony is held at the end-of-the-year Crusader Athletic Awards banquet.

HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES

Former Canterbury Coach Bill Mathews (left) is inducted into the Hall of Fame accompanied by former Head of School Jack Kenyon in May 2008.  Inducted with Coach Mathews was alumnus Kyle McCarthy, Class of 2000. Kyle was on a national golf tour, so his award was accepted by his father and former coach Vaughn McCarthy, not pictured.

FHSAA Fred E. Rozell Sportsmanship Award
Our Crusader Athletic program has been awarded the Fred Rozelle Sportsmanship Award twice in the past eight years, in 2002 and 2009. This award is given by the FHSAA to schools that exhibit exemplary sportsmanship during the regular season and during the State Series competition. Each year the award is presented to one school in each classification whose total sports program best exemplifies the qualities of sportsmanship by its coaches, players, and spectators.
