PHILOSOPHY The College Guidance Program at Canterbury School of Florida recognizes the diversity in students and families and the obligation of the school to give individual guidance. What is right for one may not be right for another. Canterbury School of Florida strives to educate its students and parents on colleges and college admission standards, procedures, and trends. It facilitates students in the application process by advocating on their behalf and by providing the colleges with accurate and complete information regarding each student's qualifications for admission. The office maintains an unbiased regard for the broadest spectrum of colleges, including competitiveness in admission, size, type, affiliation, and reputation in evaluating their appropriateness for the individual student.

COLLEGE COUNSELING COURSE This year, Canterbury began offering a College Counseling Course for juniors as part of the CAP program to give students a solid understanding of all aspects of the college admissions process. Each week, I meet with a different advisory group. Topics already covered include learning style assessments and interest inventories, college searches, and traditional colleges vs. non-traditional post-secondary opportunities. Still to be discussed are admission requirements, standardized tests, perils of Facebook and other social media, interviews, college life, Greek system, college application process, scholarships and financial aid. The intention of this course is to give students a solid understanding of all aspects of the college admissions process.
