Sponsored by the Duke University Talent Identification Program (TIP), this search is designed to administer an advanced test of verbal and mathematical aptitude to discover ability, and to introduce qualifying students to a network of services and programs for academically talented students. Either the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or the ACT Assessment (ACT) may be used in determining qualifications for the talent search.
TIP is now beginning its twenty-eighth year and is the largest program of its kind in the nation, representing participation from 6,148 junior high and middle schools in the Duke TIP 16-state region. Over 1.5 million students have completed the Talent Search since its inception in 1980.
