Campus Visits

To see the advantages of a Canterbury education, classroom visitation or "shadowing" is part of the admission process.  A campus tour will give an overview of facilities and programs, but the campus visit takes you to the heart of the school.

Campus visits vary by grade and by campus:
Hough Campus - Prekindergarten-Grade 4

Prekindergarten and Kindergarten:  ½ day with the Prekindergarten staff and students
8:00 a.m. - Arrive in the campus office.  Student and family will be escorted to the classroom to meet the teacher. Comfortable play clothes and closed-toe shoes should be worn. The admissions assessment is handled during the course of the morning.
12:00 noon - Pick up at the school office.

Grades 1-4:  full day in the student's current grade
8:00 a.m.
- Arrive in comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes. Students should bring a lunch from home.  The admissions assessment is handled during the course of the day.  2:20 p.m. - Pick up at the school office.

The Lower School Principal will follow up with prospective families within several days of the visit to discuss assessment results for prekindergarten-grade 4.

Knowlton Campus - Grades 5-12

Visitation is a full day for all grades.  Students are welcome to shadow a current student ambassador any regular school day.  Admission assessments are scheduled on Wednesday afternoons on a date other than the shadowing date. Accommodations can be made including Saturday assessments by special appointment. (Families should allow 2 ½ hours for the assessments in these grades).  Students should bring a lunch from home.

Grades 5-8 should arrive in the admissions office by 7:45 a.m. to meet their student ambassadors. Grades 9-12 should arrive by 8:15 a.m. to meet with the Director of Studies and then their student ambassadors.  Visiting students may be picked up by their parents before the campus dismissal and are invited to meet with a member of the admissions staff.

The Admission Office will follow up with prospective families for grades 5-12.
